2. Lace up your ice skates and head to Herbert Wells Ice Rink! Their large ice surface is suitable for beginners and advanced skaters. They even offer figure skating and ice hockey teams! Admission is $5 for Prince George’s County residents and $7 for non-residents. Children (17 and under) are admitted for $4; non-resident children cost $6.
3. Take a holiday lights tour by checking out the nominated homes of the Deck the City holiday decorating contest! These decked-out homes bring festive cheer to the City through twinkling lights and creative displays. For a map of the nominees, visit www.collegeparkmd.gov/deckthecity.
4. Go for a walk (or run) around the Paint Branch trail to enjoy a scenic route of off-road paved paths that run for 3.5 miles between Lake Artemesia and the Cherry Hill Neighborhood Park. The trail is connected to the Indian Creek Trail, Trolley Trail, and Northeast Branch Trail, making it easy to navigate to other sites in the area. Don’t forget to join hundreds of your neighbors for the College Park Parkrun’s 5K run every Saturday morning.
5. Throw a snowball fight at Paint Branch Golf Complex when wintery weather comes! Create teams, build forts, and strategize your battlefield tactics for this snowy spectacle.
6. Embark on a hot cocoa crawl to discover the best hot chocolate spots in College Park! Visit local cafes, like the Vigilante Coffee Company or Board & Brew, as well as well-known shops, like Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts, to warm yourself during the cold months. Whether you’re a marshmallow enthusiast or intrigued by exotic blends, each stop offers a unique twist on the classic winter treat.
7. Have a winter movie night at home to enjoy a cozy evening with your favorite winter favorites.
