As winter weather moves through our area, I want to remind everyone to be especially careful when walking outdoors. With today’s precipitation and temperatures expected to drop below freezing tonight, untreated surfaces such as sidewalks, steps, paths, and driveways may become very icy and slippery tomorrow.
Please take your time, wear appropriate footwear, and use extra caution when traveling on foot.
The good news is that City streets have been treated and cleared. Our Public Works crews will continue to monitor conditions and respond as needed to help keep roadways safe.
A Reminder for Residents and Businesses
Please remember that property owners are responsible for clearing and treating sidewalks abutting their property. City Code requires sidewalks to be cleared within 24 hours after a winter weather event. Prompt shoveling and salting helps protect pedestrians and keeps our community moving safely.
