Yesterday, it was wonderful to welcome 28 German Fulbright student scholars to College Park City Hall as part of a four-week leadership development program organized by the University of Maryland’s Office of International Affairs.
Many of the scholars are studying political science, education, and global studies. During their visit, I had the opportunity to give a presentation about how our City government operates and how our local election process works. We also discussed College Park’s many attractions, the progress our community has made, and some of the challenges and opportunities ahead.
I truly enjoyed speaking with these bright young scholars, answering their thoughtful questions, and learning about their interests. Visits like this provide a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and connect with the next generation of global leaders.
The scholars will be with us for three more weeks. If you see them around the city, please give them a warm welcome and say, “Willkommen in College Park!”
