As federal workforce cuts continue to affect thousands across our region, the University of Maryland has launched the Pathways Forward Resource Hub—a dynamic platform designed to support Marylanders facing job loss, career transitions, and changes in funding. This initiative complements Governor Moore’s Maryland Public Servants Resource Website and provides a central space for reskilling and professional growth.

One highlight is a free online certificate program in Artificial Intelligence in Business, launching May 1 through the Robert H. Smith School of Business. The course focuses on AI fundamentals and its application in key industries such as finance, marketing, and operations—helping participants align with fast-evolving workforce demands.

In addition, the Smith School is offering a 30% tuition discount for the first year of graduate study to those who were employed in the federal government at the beginning of 2025, even if they’ve since been laid off. Former federal workers who are also Smith School alumni may qualify for free enrollment in select business-related STEM programs.

To explore these opportunities and access the full list of resources, visit the Pathways Forward Resource Hub. The site is updated regularly with new programs and tools to help Marylanders move forward with confidence.
