NCPCA – It’s Your Neighborhood Association

Tomorrow is the second Thursday of the month and thus the day when the north College Park Civic Association will hold its monthly meeting.

The meeting will start with Candidates Forum for College Park Mayor & City Council. As you know the residents of College Park will elect their Mayor & City Councilmembers on Tuesday, November 5th. I will be there to speak.

The candidates for City Council District 1 (Sunnyside, Hollywood, Daniels Park, and adjoining areas) as well as the candidates for Mayor other City Council Districts are invited to answer this question:

“Why do you wish to serve on the City Council, and what do you hope to accomplish over the next two years?”

There will be discussion on  Plans to build sidewalks on Hollywood Road. Information regarding the construction of sidewalks on one or both sides of Hollywood Road will be presented, and a NCPCA motion to support an engineering study of costs and feasibility may follow.

Members will also discuss the development of University of Maryland Golf Course. The Washington Post published a story on Sept. 30th, and preliminary details were discussed at NCPCA in July and September. The latest info about this +60 acre project will be presented.

And finally there will be a discussion on the so-called ‘Spooky House’ 9909 Edgewood Road. Recent ideas to rezone and change the development concepts of this 1 acre property on the northeast corner of Edgewood Road and US 1 will be discussed. NCPCA has a committee to investigate this issue, and nearby residents are invited to participate in this planning effort.

As usual, the meeting will start at 7:30pm at Davis Hall. See you all there.
