The Hollywood neighborhood has many spaces with the potential to become more inviting, useful, and vibrant—and now residents have an opportunity to help shape what those spaces could become.
The Hollywood Placemaking Initiative is exploring creative ways to reimagine underutilized spaces throughout the Hollywood area. The effort is being undertaken in partnership with the Prince George’s County Planning Department, City of College Park, North College Park Community Association, and College Park City-University Partnership.
Placemaking is about transforming public spaces into places where people want to spend time—places that strengthen neighborhood identity, encourage interaction, and create a greater sense of community. Depending on the location, improvements could include landscaping, public art, seating, gathering areas, beautification, or other creative features.
Most importantly, the community’s ideas will help guide this effort. Residents know their neighborhood best, and your suggestions about overlooked or underutilized spaces—and what could make them better—are an important part of the planning process.
The community engagement is happening tomorrow, Saturday, August 8. If you live in Hollywood or North College Park, I encourage you to participate, share your ideas, and help us imagine what these spaces could become.

Even if you cannot participate tomorrow, you can still take the brief survey and share your thoughts about ways to improve underutilized spaces in the community.
We need your ideas! This is a great opportunity to help create more attractive, welcoming, and community-focused places right here in Hollywood.
