Sunday, August 5th starts the National Farmers Market week. We’ll be handing out I love Farmers Market Tattoos. The Animal Welfare Committee will be here this weekend for free microchipping for all College Park resident’s pets. A $20.00 fee for non College Park residents. If you have not had your pet microchipped, please consider doing so. This system has helped reunite animals to their owners.

Yoga Heights DC will return this week and are at the market around 10:30 am. It’s a perfect way to start the day!

The University of Maryland Dairy is eager to become a vendor for the market and they are working on a safe way of transporting their ice cream cart from campus to our market. As soon as they can do this they will be at our market. Mel’s Munchies will have Vanilla Bean ice cream in containers.

Local resident, Carol Macknis, will be at the market on August 5th representing the College Park Aviation Museum. August 12th marks the 100th anniversary of the first airmail delivery by the U.S. Postal Office Service between Washington, DC and New York. The flight originated from the College Park Airport. The museum will be hosting a three day event from August 10-12th. Ms. Macknis will have information regarding the event.

Other News:
Calvert Farm is looking for someone in the local area to help sell their produce. Farmer Pam has someone to drive the truck from Rising Sun but needs an additional hand to meet the staff member around 8am to help set up, sell and then take down at the end of the day.
