Today, communities across the Route 1 Corridor came together to celebrate Trolley Trail Day, an annual event highlighting one of our region’s greatest community assets—the Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail.

Stretching through College Park, Riverdale Park, Hyattsville, North Brentwood, Brentwood, and Mount Rainier, the Trolley Trail connects our communities, businesses, parks, and neighborhoods while providing a safe and enjoyable way to walk, run, bike, and explore. This year’s celebration featured a full day of activities including fun runs, bike rides, fitness classes, live music, art activities, family-friendly programs, and community gatherings at more than a dozen activity hubs along the trail.

College Park was proud to host several events throughout the day, including the weekly College Park parkrun, community bike rides, live performances, family activities, and the popular Hollywood Farmers Market. Visitors were encouraged to travel the trail, discover local businesses, and experience the unique character of each community along the corridor.

The Rhode Island Avenue Trolley Trail is much more than a recreational amenity. It serves as an important transportation connection linking residents to jobs, schools, businesses, parks, and the broader regional trail network. Events like Trolley Trail Day showcase how trails strengthen local economies, support healthy lifestyles, and bring people together.

The day concluded with the annual Night at the Museum Rock Concert at the College Park Aviation Museum, providing a memorable finale to a celebration of community, connectivity, and outdoor recreation.

Thank you to the many volunteers, sponsors, businesses, community organizations, and local governments that helped make Trolley Trail Day possible. Most importantly, thank you to everyone who walked, biked, ran, rolled, and celebrated with us today.

We look forward to seeing even more residents join us next year as we continue to promote active transportation, support local businesses, and strengthen the connections that make our communities special.
