First, the good news. The power in Hollywood came back last night at 10 p.m. That said, at this time, Pepco is reporting that less than 1,500 customers in the area (including customers in the Town of Berwyn Heights). We see the highest concentration of homes without power in Lakeland, Berwyn, Yarrow, and College Park Estates; the City is working with Pepco and other agencies to help restore power as soon as possible.
All City facilities are open today, July 14, 2022, and operating as normal. Power has been restored to City Hall; residents can use City Hall as a cooling center during business hours today, we will extend our hours if we determine we need to do that.
The City has been in contact with Pepco this morning to coordinate the City Public Works crews and Pepco crews.
Power is also in the process of being restored to the University of Maryland. Campus operations will resume today at 10 AM on Thursday, July 14, 2022. We ask for your continued patience as the power gradually returns to campus buildings and some services, including air-conditioning and hot water, may require extra time to reach normal operating levels. Cleanup from the storm is ongoing, so please take extra care when navigating roadways and sidewalks.
