We’re proud of the vital role the College Park Community Food Bank plays in our city. Each week, it provides healthy food to hundreds of families who need support. In June alone, the Food Bank served 1,602 households, reaching 6,729 individuals. These numbers remind us that food insecurity is very real in our community—and that our support is more important than ever.
The Need is Growing
In just the first half of 2025, the Food Bank has already served 10,211 households, representing 42,190 individuals. That’s a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. If this trend continues, the Food Bank could end up serving more families this year than ever before.
We can’t ignore this growing need. As a city, we are committed to standing with the Food Bank. Since it is completely volunteer-run and depends on donations for nearly half of its funding, every one of us can make a difference—by giving, volunteering, or simply spreading the word.
🎒 Help the Foodbank Get Kids Ready for School – August 16 Giveaway
Summer may be in full swing, but we’re already preparing for back-to-school. On Saturday, August 16, the Food Bank will give out school supplies during its regular distribution.
Many of the families served by the Food Bank cannot afford the supplies their children need. That’s where we can help.

🌽 Join a Gleaning Trip – Tuesday Mornings
Thanks to our partnership with Plot Against Hunger, volunteers have a chance to gather fresh produce from a nearby farm on Tuesday mornings. The food is distributed to several area food banks, including ours.
If you’d like to help harvest food that will go directly to local families, contact the Food Bank to get on the list.

🌟 Community Shout-Outs
Volunteer Spotlight: Ashley
Ashley, a College Park resident, started volunteering in February and has been a reliable, positive presence at Saturday food distributions. She often helps direct traffic and stays afterward to assist with cleanup. “I want to give back to my community and help those facing food insecurity,” she said. We’re thankful for her energy and commitment.
Bag Drive Success
When the Food Bank ran low on reusable and paper bags, our neighbors stepped up in a big way. After President Lisa Bartusek made a post in her neighborhood Buy Nothing group, residents donated 339 bags in just two days. That’s the power of community.
