Important Winter Reminders
🚨 Winter Weather Alerts
Crews pre-treat roads, apply salt at the start of storms, and plow all City streets—curb to curb when possible. Sidewalks, bus stops, crosswalks, and the Trolley Trail are cleared based on priority to ensure safe travel.
💧 Water Main Breaks
Cold temperatures increase the risk of water main breaks. If you see one, report it directly to WSSC Water at 301-206-4002 so crews can respond quickly.
❄️ Snow Removal Operations
Snow and ice removal are emergency operations that take priority. Crews work continuously until all roads are safe and accessible.
🤝 How You Can Help
Move parked cars off the street when possible to allow full plowing Do not shovel snow back into the roadway Clear sidewalks and fire hydrants abutting your property within 24 hours after the event, once plows finish Please be patient—crews are out until the job is done
🗑️ Trash & Recycling
Set carts out on your normal collection day. Pickups may occur later in the day or be delayed by one day due to weather conditions.
Winter weather affects us all, and a little cooperation goes a long way. Thank you for doing your part to help keep College Park safe this season.
