The M-NCPPC Department of Parks and Recreation has announced a temporary closure of a section of the Rhode Island Trolley Trail due to urgent safety concerns.

Beginning Thursday, April 16, 2026, the bridge located between Campus Drive and the Paint Branch Trail will be closed to all users. This closure is necessary to allow for critical repairs to ensure the long-term safety of the trail.

Repairs are expected to take approximately six weeks, with a tentative reopening date of May 28, 2026. Please note that weather conditions could impact the timeline slightly.

During this period, trail users are encouraged to follow the posted detour routes to safely navigate around the closure area.

We understand this may cause inconvenience, especially for those who regularly walk, bike, or commute along this popular trail. However, these repairs are essential to maintaining a safe and reliable trail network for everyone.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as this important work is completed.
