Dear Neighbors,

As we step into 2025, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey that has brought me to serve as your mayor. This role is both an extraordinary honor and a profound responsibility—one I embrace with the same passion and commitment that guided me during my 12 years as your City Council representative.

In 2024, we made tremendous strides in strengthening College Park’s vibrant economy. We welcomed new businesses like Rally House and Ross Stores while continuing to champion beloved local establishments such as Pho Thom and Taqueria Habanero. These partnerships reflect our collective commitment to fostering a thriving and dynamic community.

The revitalized Route 1 corridor was a major milestone, celebrated with a ribbon-cutting earlier in the year. It now offers enhanced accessibility, safety, and aesthetics for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. Our discussions about bike facilities continue to highlight the importance of resident-driven development and inclusivity in shaping our shared spaces.

One of the most exciting projects of 2024 was our significant investment in the transformation of Duvall Field. This initiative will reimagine the field as a premier recreational hub for our community. The project includes upgraded athletic facilities, improved seating, and enhanced accessibility to ensure that residents of all abilities can fully enjoy the space. Once completed, Duvall Field will serve as a dynamic gathering place, hosting sports events, family activities, and community celebrations, further enriching the quality of life in College Park.

Late last year, we also celebrated the opening of the Concentra Urgent Care facility. This much-needed addition expands access to healthcare for our residents, providing timely and quality medical services close to home. Additionally, the College Park Woods Clubhouse construction is nearing completion, providing an upgraded community space for gatherings and events.

In addition, the new Senior Program office near City Hall is fully operational, staffed by a dedicated team providing advocacy, emotional support, and opportunities for social engagement. We also celebrated the 50th anniversary of Youth and Family Services, recognizing decades of impactful work in strengthening families.

As we look to the new year, we remain committed to addressing the diverse needs of our residents. Public safety will be an important focus as we collaborate with law enforcement, community leaders, and stakeholders to ensure College Park is a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

As we embrace the opportunities of 2025, I remain deeply grateful for your trust and collaboration. Together, we will continue to build on these achievements, ensuring College Park remains a place where everyone feels valued, supported, and inspired.

With warm regards,
Fazlul Kabir
Mayor, College Park
