The winter storm has brought significant challenges to our community, with more than five inches of snow already blanketing the city and an additional 3 to 5 inches forecasted. In response, crews from the Department of Public Works have been tirelessly working around the clock to treat and clear the streets of snow and ice. To ensure the safety of both our solid waste workers and residents, trash, recycling, and yard waste collections will be delayed this week.

Here is the revised collection schedule for the week of January 6:

  • Monday collections will now take place on Wednesday, January 8.
  • Tuesday collections will now take place on Thursday, January 9.
  • Wednesday collections will now take place on Friday, January 10.

Please note that special bulk and yard waste collections are canceled for this week. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize safety during these severe weather conditions.

Tips to Help During the Storm

  • Assist the Snow Plows: Park your cars in driveways or as close to the curb as possible to allow plows to effectively clear the streets. If you don’t need to go out, please stay off the roads to give plows room to operate.
  • Clear Your Sidewalks: Residents and businesses are required to clear all sidewalks on their property within 24 hours after the snow has stopped falling. This helps ensure safe passage for pedestrians.
  • Stay Updated: For the latest updates on city services, visit our website or follow us on social media. Sign up for email alerts at www.collegeparkmd.gov/cpconnect.
