College Park is preparing to once again join communities across the nation in celebrating National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. As noted in the City Council’s Information Report, neighborhoods throughout College Park will be organizing local events to participate in this annual tradition of community-building and crime prevention.

National Night Out is a long-standing campaign that encourages residents to come together to promote public safety, strengthen police-community partnerships, and foster neighborhood unity. Typical events include cookouts, block parties, ice cream socials, and outdoor games—many of which feature visits from College Park’s public safety officials, including local police and fire personnel.

The City’s Information Report outlines logistical support and coordination efforts by City staff to help neighborhood groups organize events. In past years, the City has assisted with promotional materials, event registration, and visits from public officials and law enforcement teams.

Residents are encouraged to reach out to the Department of Public Services if they plan to host or attend a National Night Out gathering. These community-led efforts are a key part of building a safer, more connected College Park.

Stay tuned for more information about event locations and how to participate. For questions or to register an event, please contact publicservices@collegeparkmd.gov or call 240-487-3570.

Let’s come together on August 6 to celebrate the strength and spirit of our neighborhoods.
