The City of College Park has launched a one-month pilot program to help improve traffic and pedestrian safety via stop sign cameras with the goal of reducing vehicular stop-sign running. Stop-sign running has been a persistent problem, and the City is taking action to improve driver behavior, thereby making our roads safer for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

During the month of September, stop sign cameras will be operational across the City in various locations.  Through this pilot program, cameras will measure and quantify the extent of stop-sign running by collecting data and producing anonymized video evidence for City officials to better understand traffic patterns. The City has partneredwith Obvio Inc, to provide solar-powered stop sign cameras that will be installed according to all state and local regulations. No private information will be collected, nor will citations be given during this month-long pilot.
