Yesterday, County Councilwoman Mary Lehman announced that she is going to run for 21st district Delegate position.
Here is a statement she sent to her constituents.
For the past 14 years, public service has been my calling. Working as a legislative aide for seven years in Upper Marlboro and then Annapolis was truly rewarding. Being elected in 2010 to represent District 1 on the Prince George’s County Council has been the honor of a lifetime.
Now, with less than a year to go in my second term on the Council, after much thought and with the full support of my husband Dale and four children, Allison, Ryan, Rory and Caroline, I have decided to run for a delegate seat in state District 21. The Democratic primary is June 26, 2018, so there is not a moment to waste. I will need an army of energetic volunteers and committed supporters for a robust campaign.
With the retirement of Delegate Barbara Frush after 24 years of distinguished service, this will be a contested race, and I will not take a single voter for granted. With your input and support, I look forward to the challenge.
Please mark your calendar for my kickoff celebration, and feel free to share the great news with friends and neighbors!
