John “Jack” Perry

The College Park City Council established an award in February 2013 to honor Councilman John Edward “Jack” Perry. Councilman Perry dedicated 26 years to serving on the Council, from 1979 to 1983 and from 1989 to 2011.

He was deeply committed to improving the lives of College Park residents, actively participating in various associations, boards, and committees.

The Jack Perry Award recognizes individuals who commit similarly to public service. Eligible nominees must be at least 18 years old and either registered voters or legal residents of College Park. The award criteria focus on exceptional involvement in neighborhood, civic, or municipal affairs that enhance public spaces, build community unity, address blight, encourage discussion on public issues, display leadership, and promote the city’s best interests.

Nominations can be submitted between May 15 and July 14 by residents, neighborhood associations, or organizations in the city. The nominations will be reviewed by a committee, including a member of the Perry family, and the City Council will present the non-monetary award in the fall.
