Gateway Park is now Open to Public

The Hollywood Gateway Park is now complete and “technically” open to the public. Please maintain social distancing rules if you plan to visit the park. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been engaged by giving important feedback (including the critical ones) through an unexpectedly very long journey that took us here.

Unfortunately, the Gateway Park was designed only for residents who live close to the park and those who are able to walk or bike to the park. It was not designed for everyone in the North College Park area. That was explicitly stated by city staff at an North College Park Community Association meeting last year — no accommodations were made for any parking. Thus, there are a number of residents who cannot take advantage of this park even though their tax payer dollars helped to pat for the park. The residents I’m talking about are the ones who physically cannot walk or bike to the park and don’t live close to the park.

Why not put parking on the opposite corner, where the abandon House was?

The final product looks very nice! The design is unique. I think it adds a lot to that area of the neighborhood.
