The outbreak of COVID-19 has greatly impacted our community, changing daily life in ways no one could have predicted even a month ago. Many items we once took for granted are now scarce—chief among these simple sanitizing solution/hand sanitizer.

Brian Roan, a north College Park resident started a local distillery, called Shmidt Spirits ( recently, and now is attempting to help to ease this scarcity by producing hand sanitizer at their distillery in Beltsville, MD. While Brian and his team are currently in the midst of producing sanitizer for sale, they would love to be able to produce a batch that is available to residents of the College Park area regardless of their ability to pay.
The $10,000 they are asking for will cover the production of 2,000 4-ounce spray bottles of hand sanitizer, which we are producing in accordance with World Health Organization (WHO) guidance. These bottles would be free to any families who need them, the cost of their products having been fully covered by this fundraiser.

The money they are asking for goes toward helping us buy the materials needed to produce the sanitizer, the packaging, and to cover our overhead in production, not to mention helping to seed production of future batches.

Please consider supporting the production of the much-needed hand sanitizers for our neighbors during this challenging time. Here is the link to make a contribution:
