Last week the Mayor and the the council appointed me as a member of the City’s Committee for the Better Environment (CBE). The CBE strives to make the city clean and beautify its look to everyone.
This will be a great opportunity to serve in this committee, since I’ve a passion to do some of the tasks the CBE does on a regular basis. My thanks go to the Mayor and the council for giving me this opportunity.
In the past I’ve organized (and helped organize) various environment related events; such as Hollywood cleanup, tree planting event etc. It feels great and very rewarding in doing such volunteering work.
Our city is aging and thus needs a lot of work to keep it clean and beautiful. But most of all, it needs a lot of volunteers to make that happen. Please let me know if you have ideas on this and want to participate.

As a member of CBE for the last few years, I can attest to the fact that we do need more volunteers to work for our local environment. I would also like to emphasize that we need people who are interested in being “active” volunteers, which includes not only attending meetings, voting, and having an idea but also volunteering to do all of the steps (i.e., the real work) to accomplish a project and meet a CBE- and Council-supported goal. It’s one thing to be a member of the committee, have ideas, and vote; it’s totally another to be an activist.
Here’s a quote I heard that says it better than I can: “To do good you actually have to do something.”
