Washington DC has recently received the highest mark in environmental governance, by an environmental study group. The study measured and compared environmental index of 27 major cities in the US and Canada.
DC earned the top ranking along with Denver and New York, mainly for the strength of its green action plan and a high level of public participation in environmental policies. The city was als0 placed third in the buildings category.
The study looked into several indicators related to environment, such as CO2, energy, land use, buildings, transport, waste, water, air.
Though College Park was not included in the study, supposedly because of its small size of population, there are many lessons the City can probably take from the study’s results.
