At last night’s meeting the Council discussed awarding a contract for Design Build & Demolition Services for the College Park Woods Swimming Club property to Broughton Construction Company, in an amount not to exceed $554,670.36.
The City purchased the College Park Swimming Club property on July 27, 2018. The City asked Buchart Horn Architects to perform a facility assessment report to determine costs to repair, replace, and upgrade necessary components of the facility and to make the facility code compliant and ADA accessible.
On September 23, 2018 College Park Woods Community members and City staff presented the report and gathered to discuss the community’s interests concerning how to proceed with improvements.
Follow-up meetings occurred with the community on December 9, 2018 and June 19, 2019. On January 22, 2019 the City Manager presented an overview of the options for the Council and received direction on how to proceed.
Several key items were discussed and finalized during the meetings. A) Decommission the pools by draining, cap all supply lines, infill pools and remove all related equipment. B) Demolish and remove the existing building. B) With input from the community, design and construct a new facility. C) Construct a new facility at the existing location.
