At this week’s Council meeting, the City Council awarded a contract to A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. for the design specifications for the Hollywood dog park, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00.

A community meeting was held in May to present information about creating a dog park on a portion of the Prince George’s County Board of Education property on 51st Avenue north of the Public Works facility. Community members expressed positive interest for this location.

Based on this feedback, staff contacted the Board of Education to see if they would consider the City’s request to utilize another portion of this parcel for a City maintained dog park.

An agreement between the Board of Education and the City has been finalized for the City to use a part of the western side of the parcel to construct and operate an open-access dog park. The City currently has an agreement with the Board of Education to utilize about 4 acres of this parcel for compost operations.
