College Park Welcomes New City Clerk Yvette Allen

The City is excited to announce that current Assistant City Clerk Yvette Allen has been selected as the new City Clerk. Ms. Allen will begin her new role on August 5, 2024, following the retirement of current City Clerk Janeen S. Miller.

Ms. Allen has been with the City for 37 years, serving as the Assistant City Clerk for more than 20 years. She received her Certified Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in 2014 and serves as the Secretary of the Maryland Municipal Clerks Association. Ms. Allen is also a Notary Public and holds her Maryland Open Meetings Act certification.

Prior to her current role, she served as an Office Specialist for several City departments including Public Services and Administration. Ms. Allen expressed her gratitude to the City for the opportunities it has provided her and looks forward to working closely with the City Manager, City Council, and Department directors.

Ms. Allen will replace long-time City Clerk Janeen S. Miller, who is retiring on August 1. Ms. Miller has been with the City for 20 years and was appointed City Clerk in January 2006. During her tenure, Ms. Miller initiated record retention policies that led to the digitization of City records, administered 13 elections, and worked with three City Managers and four Mayors. She praised Ms. Allen, stating that she will do an outstanding job for the elected officials, staff, and residents in her new role.

The City thanks Ms. Miller for her many years of exemplary service and wishes her all the best in her retirement.
