College Park Day 2014

City’s biggest event College Park Day is happening in just a few weeks on Saturday, September 27 from 11am – 3pm at 5000 Paint Branch Parkway (the corner of Paint Branch and Corporal Frank Scott Dr.) Please see below some of the activities w’ll be having at the event this year.   • Free admission to the College Park Aviation Museum – 2 blocks from the event.
  • Tour College Park Bike Ride – coordinated bike ride through town hitting all the highlights with Proteus Bikes.  Easy 10 miles or so.  Leaves and returns from their tent at College Park Day – sign in at 10:45am, leaves at 11am.
  • Pet Parade – benefits the CP Animal Welfare Committee.  Community members are welcome to bring their well behaved pets on leash to the event.  The parade sign in starts at 11am and the parade itself will kick off at 12pm.  Big Bad Woof will furnish grand prize for best pet.
  • Free Zumba Class at 1pm courtesy of College Park Community Center Zumba group.
  • Special appearance by the Baltimore Oriole mascot.  Bring your camera and get a photo with the bird!
  • Festival Food – we’ll have lots of BBQ, hot dogs, pulled pork and Venezuelan arepas on the savory side.  To tempt your sweet tooth, we’ll have heavenly cupcakes and Hawaiian Shave Ice.  Special beverages provided by Dragonfly Vineyards – local wine and sangria!
  • Kids activities – lots for kids to see and do.  We’ll have a rock wall for climbing, the extreme air bungee for jumping and somersaults, the ultimate fire rescue obstacle course, a Nemo bounce house, giant 30′ climber and slide (all of which adults can do too!), face painting, carnival games, and free skating.
  • Kids Bike Rodeo – the folks at Proteus will have a bike handling course set for the little kids.  They must bring their own bikes.  After they complete the course they may win a brand new bike helmet.  The Proteus staff want to promote bike safety within the community.
  • Great Music and performances – we have 3 distinctly different bands this year.  Steel drums start us off, followed by classic rock, a high flying performance by Gymkana, and ending with funk and R&B.
