A well-known community activist, Andrea Hawvermale was tragically killed in an explosion near her home last Saturday.
“On Saturday, my three siblings and I suddenly lost our beloved mother. She was an amazing, beautiful woman who had an endless affection for others.” wrote her son Duncan Hawvermale.
A memorial service has been scheduled this Saturday, the 24th at 11 am at St. Francis Episcopal Church – 10033 River Road, Potomac, MD.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Team Impact at gototeamimpact.org or Olney Boys & Girls Club at OGBC.com.
The obit in the Washington Post stated, among other things, that she “cared deeply about community issues in College Park.”
Andrea has been very involved in College Park’s Quality of Life residents group and worked with the residents and property owners to improve the quality of life.
