At tomorrow’s meeting, the Council will consider approving the program guidelines and procedures for the chain link fence removal incentive program. The City recently enacted changes to the Fence Ordinance which presents an opportunity for outreach to the community.

To encourage residents to remove existing chain link fences in the front yard and along public streets, City staff has developed guidelines and procedures for an incentive grant program. The proposed program will provide a maximum grant of $2,500 per property for costs associated with the removal of existing chain link fences.

The purchase and installation of replacement fences that conform with the height and material restrictions of the Fence Ordinance will also be eligible for the grant. No new chain link fences can be funded.

$10,000 was provided in the FY 2018 Operating Budget for this purpose and is expected to be utilized. Additional funding will be requested for FY 2019 based on demand.
