Runway lights

After much controversies surrounding recently installed street lights on Lackawanna street, the City engineer has finally disclosed a plan outlining steps to address residents’ concerns.

According to an email sent by City engineer Steve Helpern, the plan includes blackening the house sides of the cut-off shields and replacing the 165 watt existing lights with 85 watt lights.

The City also plans to send questionnaires to the nearby residents who have been directly affected by the new lights.

One such resident has told me she thinks the lower wattage lights may work as may blackening out the side of the light facing the homes, but it is unclear to the resident if  the lights from the other side of the street will still then shine in our house and also if these changes will fulfill the promises made by the City that the light will be directed down toward the sidewalks only and not be intrusive otherwise.
