At last Tuesday’s Council meeting, the City Council heard a presentation on the employee compensation and classification study.

City recruited a management consultant firm called Management Advisory Group International to conduct a study of city employee compensation and classification.

As part of the study information about the job duties of every employee’s job duties was collected and comparative salary data was obtained. They have prepared a draft report.

Council discussed the report and its findings. This was just a discussion of the report. Council will decide later whether to adopt the suggestions in the plan. There will be a fiscal impact if Council adopts the recommendation in the report. For FY2018, the impact would be $143,000 to implement the recommendations the consultant feels are most important. The Council may decide to raise the salaries before the the FY18 budget goes into efefct.
