On April 16, 2018, the Open Meetings Compliance Board (OMCB) received a complaint against the City.
The OMCB is an independent State entity with three members appointed by the Governor. They issue advisory opinions in response to written complaints about violations of the Maryland Open Meetings Act.
The complaint alleged that the Mayor and City Council violated several provisions of the Open Meetings Act with regard to several meetings the Council closed to the public between October 2017 and April 2018.
The OMCB found that the City violated majority of the provisions and cleared on a few others listed in the complaint.
You can read the OMCB’s findings against College Park here on the Maryland Attorney General’s website.
At tonight’s meeting, Mayor ProTem will make a statement summarizing the OMCB findings. The OMCB requires the City to make the statement of the findings in an open meeting.
