January 3, 2024 – The City of College Park is pleased to announce that Jatinder Khokhar has been selected to serve as the City’s new Director of Public Services. Mr. Khokhar will start his tenure on January 8, following the retirement of Director Robert Ryan.

Mr. Khokhar comes to the City with more than 30 years of experience in Building and Code administration. Previously, he served as a Combination Plan Reviewer for the City of Fairfax. He has also held positions of Inspection Services Director, for the City of Seattle, Washington; Director of Community Development, for the Town of Dumfries, Virginia; Chief Building Official, Inspection and Compliance Administration, for the District of Columbia; and Code Enforcement Manager for the City of Reading, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Khokhar has a breadth of experience in plan review, building inspection, code enforcement, and training. He holds credentials as a certified Residential Combination Inspector, Certified Building Official, and holds a B.S. in Engineering.

Mr. Khokhar will replace long-time Director of Public Services, Bob Ryan. In November of 1998, Mr. Ryan began his career with the City of College Park as Director after previously serving at the University of Maryland. After more than 25 years with the City, Mr. Ryan will retire from the City of College Park on January 5, 2024.
