Trolley Trail Day on Saturday, June 8, 2024, offers a fun run, bicycle ride, local music, kid activities, food, and drinks from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. along the 3.8-mile Trolley Trail. Activities are spread across College Park, Riverdale Park, and Hyattsville hubs. The event is free and inclusive, celebrating the Trolley Trail’s role as a recreational, transportation, and economic asset linking Baltimore Avenue Corridor communities. Sponsored by various organizations, Trolley Trail Day aims to boost local businesses and community engagement, building on the success of the 2023 event which saw over 1,500 participants and 50 supporting businesses. The trail connects to the Anacostia River Trail System and Capital Trails Network, enhancing its appeal for both residents and visitors.

College Park Activity Hubs will offer a full day of engaging events across various locations. The day begins with Porchfest at 6705 Rhode Island Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., featuring local artists. Allison Hughes will perform acoustic covers and originals, followed by a Kampfire Karaoke Singalong led by Rumi, and an open mic session. The event concludes with The Overthinkers, an acoustic trio playing Americana rock, folk, and indie music.

From 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Old Parish House will host a family-friendly event on its green. Attendees can enjoy live acoustic music from various artists, face painting, arts and crafts, outdoor games, a gift card raffle, and sweet treats. Activities for kids include carnival games, giant Jenga, and samples from local eateries. The afternoon features performances by artists such as Miles Spicer, Eric Maring, and Janine Wilson.

The Discovery District, located at the corner of Campus Drive and Rhode Island Avenue, will showcase innovations from UMD and partners from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Highlights include a raffle for complimentary hotel stays and spa treatments.

At Lakeland Community Park, visitors can enjoy live entertainment, a moon bounce, soul line dancing, and community art activities from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A historical reenactment and a dedication for Mr. Mack are also scheduled.

The Berwyn Business District will feature local business specials, bike demos, and folk music from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the Hollywood Shopping Center offers tickets to the Farmers Market, live music, origami art, giant chess, Jenga, and fitness demos from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These events provide a diverse array of entertainment and activities, fostering community engagement and showcasing local talent and innovation.
