Good Neighbor Day – CANCELLED

Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather forecast, Good Neighbor Day (which was scheduled for tomorrow) has been canceled.

Event’s partners and planning committee made a collective decision to cancel the large-scale service event because of challenges the weather would create for the majority of projects.

Donations will be received by the UMD Campus Pantry and College Park Community Food Bank as planned. The safety of volunteers and everyone involved takes precedence, according to the organizers.

The event organizers appreciate the support that has surrounded this event. We anticipated over 800 volunteers to participate in Good Neighbor Day this year for 20 service projects, said in a statement.

UMD’s Office of Community Engagement will be following up to provide further details on other ways to stay connected in the community and potential opportunities for Good Neighbor Day projects to take place at a later date.

Registration Now Open for 2015 Good Neighbor Day

The local residents and the UMD community members are invited to join the community for Good Neighbor Day 2015 – a day of service and partnership between the University, the City of College Park, and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC). The organisers focus on clean-up efforts that contribute to a great quality of life for all College Park residents and celebrate being a good neighbor, every day of the year. – See more at: http://vpaf.umd.edu/gnd/

Today is Good Neighbor Day. Good Neighbor Day is all about developing relationships between the University, the City, businesses & non-profits  and our city’s residents, rolling up our sleeves, beautifying our community, and having a good time!

This year’s Good Neighbor’s Day will take place EXCLUSIVELY in north College Park. Good Neighbor Day is a chance for everybody to give back: whatever your skill set, your age, or your level of physical mobility, we have a variety of different service-learning projects and there’s guaranteed to be a project with your name on it!

Here is the list of exciting projects we’ll work on today.

You can still bring your donated food to donation drop centers.

4.   Doctor’s Community Hospital Health Screening:  Get a free health check-up.  Doctors Community Hospital will provide free blood pressure  and cholesterol screenings on site.

5.   Informational Tables on the following topics: the UM Extension, Fire Safety, Public Safety, the Branchville Fire Department, Doctor’s Community Hospital, Sustainability, Recycling, the Rotary Club, ATHA and others.
