I want to share an important opportunity for young people across Prince George’s County that can make a real difference in their future. The County Executive has announced that the Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) application period is now open through March 31, 2026.
SYEP is a valuable initiative offered through the County’s Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM), giving youth ages 14 to 24 the chance to gain meaningful, real-world work experience during the summer. Selected participants—through a random lottery process—will take part in a paid six-week job experience with Prince George’s County Government or one of its partner organizations.
This program is about much more than a paycheck. Participants build practical skills, receive professional development training, and explore potential career paths while strengthening their résumés and interview skills. Programs like SYEP help young people gain confidence, discover their interests, and prepare for long-term success.
Each year, interest in SYEP is extremely high, so families and young residents are encouraged to apply early and not wait until the deadline. Investing in our youth is one of the best ways we can strengthen our community’s future, and opportunities like this provide a strong foundation for growth and leadership.
