Woman Shot Last Night in Park near UMD Campus

According to the University of Maryland Police, yesterday, October 3, 2019, at approximately 9 p.m., the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division, was notified of shots fired in the 4300 block of Metzerott Road (off-campus), near a park, adjacent to the UMD campus.

It was discovered that a female sought help from a nearby residence after suffering from trauma to her upper body. The female (no affiliation) was taken to a local area hospital for further evaluation.

According to a source, the incident appears to have happened at the Acredale Park.

It is believed that a light-colored sedan was involved. The direction of travel of the vehicle is not known. Officers from the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Prince George’s County Division and the University of Maryland Police Department remained in the area, patrolling. Helicopters were seen hovering over the site after the incident.
