Tonight’s NCPCA Meeting: Branchville Fire Station, FBI Development at Greenbelt Metro and Greenbelt Sector Plan

NCPCA - It's Your Neighborhood Association

Today is the second Thursday of  the month and thus is the day of our monthly NCPCA meeting. Here is a list of items that what will be on the agenda.

The meeting will start with a presentation on reduced staffing at Branchville Fire Station. Fire Chief Marc Bashoor will discuss the removal of career firefighters from Branchville Fire Station, planned for March 1. Chief Bashoor will explain the reasoning for the change. How will this affect service and emergency response times in College Park?

We will then have a very important discussion on the relocation of FBI to Greenbelt Metro. Mr. Garth Beall of Renard Development will discuss a possible development plan for FBI relocation to Greenbelt Metro Station. Construction of the new FBI national headquarters at Greenbelt Metro and other development near the Station and along the rail tracks to MD 193 could have major impacts on us. Community input is needed now.

Finally we will have discussion on County’s adopted Greenbelt Sector Plan. On Feb. 5th, the County Council adopted a new plan to guide future development of the station and the undeveloped land near MD 193. The City of College Park expressed serious concerns about the plan, and we have worked with County Councilmember Mary Lehman to develop amendments to protect our community from negative impacts of development. This update will explain what was passed, and what it means to us.

As usual the meeting will start at 7:30pm at Davis Hall. See you all there.
