The Washington Oak Kittens: Bring the Kids for a Reading

Come join us at the Hollywood Farmers Market tomorrow, Saturday, July 26, at 11 am, where local author Renee Domogauer will read from her recently published children’s picture book, The Washington Oak Kittens. Come learn about the adventures of Sophie Katz in the “whimsical tale for children.” The story is based on the history of a 300-year old tree where George Washington met with his troops, so older children will enjoy learning the facts behind the story. As an added treat, she’ll offer children a chance to explore the art of illustration.All you have to do is bring the little ones and a chair or blanket to join Renee under the trees for a delightful story time!Signed copies of her book will be available for purchase for $12.50.

College Park Animal Shelter Wish ListSpeaking of kittens and puppies—and older cats and dogs—volunteers from the College Park Animal Welfare Committee will be at the market tomorrow. Please stop by their table and discover the good work they do.

Recipe of the Week: Fire and Ice Salsa

Ingredients:

3 cups seeded and chopped watermelon
1/2 cup green peppers
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
1 tablespoon green onions
2 tablespoons jalapeno peppers

Instructions: Combine and mix ingredients. Cover. Refrigerate for 1 hour or more.
