Group to Discuss Bicycle Infrastructure MOU between Local Communities

At tomorrow’s Council worksession, Aaron Marcavitch , the Executive Director of the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area (ATHA) will discuss the bicycle infrastructure MOU between local communities and give an update on the Maryland Milestones/ATHA.

Earlier in 2015, each of the communities within the Anacostia Trails Heritage Area discussed potential bike connections between the trails and the communities. The group identified potential routes, maintenance issues, and future plans and agreed that a MOU should be put in place that would help guide future discussions.

The participating towns in the MOU include College Park, Riverdale Park, University Park, Berwyn Heights, and Greenbelt, Mount Rainier, Brentwood, North Brentwood, Hyattsville, Edmonston, Colmar Manor, Cottage City and Bladensburg.

The MOU asks for creating a working group with a member from each town and how the members can collaboratively work together to ensure that the bicycle paths, for its entire network, remains a valuable community resource.
