College Park City Hall Visioning Session Next Week

At next week’s Council worksession, the City Council will engage in a visioning session about the new City Hall. The goal of this session is to begin to picture what a new City Hall for College Park could be. This will be done by using images to stimulate thought and discussion.

The desired outcomes of the session include
‐Stimulate thought about what this project could be.
‐Stimulate thought about what this project could achieve for the community.
‐Identify aesthetic and functional aspects that you think are important for the new College Park City Hall.
‐Identify goals that would be a measure of success for the new City Hall.

The design team will bring example images, printed and projected, that relate to the look of the exterior of the building, the primary public space, the secondary public space, council chambers and potential for the outdoor space. We will present the images with a brief comment on why each was selected.

Images will be printed and displayed around the room organized by category. Each of the Council members will be provided with two colors of post‐it notes to tag and/or leave a brief comment on any or all images that resonate with you for a positive or negative reason. The team will then have a group discussion about the outcomes to help provide the design team with direction and goals moving forward.

The agenda will include
‐90 minutes total.
‐Walkthrough of the images and why we selected those (15 minutes).
‐Individual walk around observing and tagging images (30 minutes).
‐Discussion of tagged images, outcomes and goals (45 minutes).

Items to consider.
‐Which images feel like they would be appropriate for the look and/or feel of College Park City Hall?
‐Which images feel inappropriate for the look and/or feel of College Park City Hall?
‐Which images embody aspects that you think are important for the new City hall? Examples: Daylight, openness, warmth, energy, gravitas.
